Supported DAWs
- The Plugin takes care of syncing your hardware to your DAW, currently supported on Ableton, Bitwig, Logic, Cubase, Nuendo, FL Studio, Pro Tools, Fender Studio Pro, Reaper and Luna.
- The control surface (or "controller", or "script") take care of syncing the other way, making your DAW following tempo changes on your hardware. This is currently supported on Ableton, Bitwig, Cubase, Nuendo, FL Studio, Reaper and Logic.
Setup
U-SYNC takes care of the sync, so all MIDI Clocks should be disabled in your DAW.
Make sure Plugin Delay Compensation is enabled in your DAW.
Disable monitoring while recording (or in Ableton 12, use the "keep latency" option).

What is calibration
When starting, U-SYNC needs to calibrate, i.e. adjust its timing to match your audio interface and DAW. You will see a blue mark on the Plugin while it calibrates, which will disappear as soon as the calibration is done.
During the calibration, the timing might be inacurate. It takes between 1 and 3 seconds in most cases.
U-SYNC will need to re-calibrate if:
- you reload the U-SYNC Plugin
- your sample rate or buffer size changes
- the track delay or Plugin Delay Compensation (PDC) is changed
- this can happen after moving the SHIFT slider, to prevent it you can use the "PDC Guard" on the plugin which will set a fixed large reported plugin latency
Troubleshooting
If you cannot see your device, make sure its firmware is up to date.
Latency is expected, either positive or negative, but it should be stable. Then you can then compensate it using the SHIFT slider in the Plugin.
If you notice the latency move or the SHIFT slider has no effect:
- wait for the calibration to be finished before recording
- changing buffer size or sample rate will move the latency slightly (then you can readjust it for the new settings)
- do not monitor through the DAW will have its own timing, not affected by the SHIFT slider
- Some DAWs have specific settings which can affect timing, see the U-SYNC manual for those settings.
- The latency movements can also come from further down the MIDI chain, on the final hardware creating the sound
Generally, U-SYNC has best results at 48kHz (or a multiple) and at reasonable buffer sizes (anywhere between 128 and 512).
